Possible Questions for Governor’s Race

Every public opinion poll done of New Jersey voters shows that the most important issue for them is high taxes, especially property taxes. Would you reduce property taxes, and if so by what rate?

Unemployment has reached high levels. What can the governor do to deal with unemployment in this state?

What policy changes should be made to guarantee high ethical behavior for public servants?

How should transportation networks be funded by New Jersey?

Should the state provide parity of services in health care, education, and housing for undocumented immigrants?

The state pension fund is severely underfunded. How would you as governor deal with that development?

The state supreme court has gotten involved in a variety of public policy issues. What is the proper role of the high court and the criteria you would use to fill judicial vacancies?

What should be the level of support for higher education institutions and what percentage of operating expenses should come from tuition and student fees?

New Jersey has been especially vulnerable to environmental and pollution problems. What public policy directives do you favor changing or institutonalizing to deal with those problems?

The state senate has begun discussing universal health insurance for New Jeseyans. Do you favor such proposals and how would you recommend paying for them?
